It excited me to hear that dreamy buzzing approach my flushed pink flesh. A puttering of wings, then a sumptuous kind of silence as they suckled blood from my body. After a while I would brush the mosquitos away or sometimes they’d fly off on their own as I reached down to pick up the flowers. Soaked in early summer light and just bloomed, the violets tasted good. Their petals followed…
